IPC-7711/7721 Certification

IPC-7711/7721 CERTIFIED IPC SPECIALIST (CIS)

The IPC-7711/7721 standard (“Rework, Modification and Repair of electronic Assemblies”) is the most famous repair standard of IPC. IPC is an American institute that ensures that all knowledge is distributed worldwide by certified IPC trainers through their IPC standards, IPC training programs and IPC teaching materials. The IPC-7711/7721 standard is also called “the soldering standard of IPC” by which all types of assembled printed circuit boards (electronics) are reworked (improved), repaired and/or modified. This IPC standard is actually a manual for soldering: with which soldering tip, which temperature, which materials/tools, step 1 do this, step 2 do that, etc. If you follow these guidelines you cannot do anything wrong and all products will work as it should be. Virtually all assembly and repair companies around the world that repair or rework circuit boards work according to this standard.

DO YOU WANT TO LEARN HOW TO REPAIR ELECTRONIC PRODUCTS? YES YOU CAN!

If you need further practical knowledge in soldering components, repairing pads/tracks/printed circuit board laminate, etc., then this standard is the right one for you. This standard is used during manual soldering in the production process of the assembler (the company that assembles and solder electronic components on the printed circuit board), in the repair department and sometimes also at the final assembly companies (the company that buys assembled printed circuit boards and installs them in the final housing (box building)). The IPC-7711/7721 CIS training is a practical training (soldering training) by which a student/participant is trained as a Certified IPC Specialist (CIS). Various practical assignments apply to this training. In these practical sessions the participant receives various soldering assignments such as: soldering wires together (wire repair/splicing), desoldering of through-hole components (conventional components), cleaning the printed circuit board and re-soldering through-hole components, desoldering SMD- components, cleaning the circuit board and re-soldering of SMD components, practical inspection of all soldered connections made with the correct magnification factor (microscope/loupe), soldering wires between various components (modification), repairing pads/lands, tracks, laminate (base material) of printed circuit boards, etc. After completing this training, the CIS can demonstrate the various soldering assignments, work with this standard and rework/repair and/or modify all products with it. This practical training is suitable for people who work as an operator/repair technician in an electronics assembly company, but also for managers who need more practical experience and/or background knowledge in the repair process so that they can coordinate this knowledge better with the customer.

The CIS certification training is a modular training and lasts for approximately 4 days, at the end of the mandatory training module the participant receives a written exam (multiple choice). If the participant has passed the mandatory module exam with a minimum score of 70%, he/she will receive an IPC-7711/7721 CIS certificate for this. All further (optional) practical modules are listed on this IPC certificate. With this IPC certificate you can work as a CIS (Certified IPC Specialist) all over the world. Just like a driver’s license, this IPC certificate is internationally recognized. The certificate is valid for 2 years, you can extend the certificate by participating an IPC recertification training. The CIS recertification training can take place in a shorter period of time (at least 1 day). The IPC-7711/7721 CIS can independently solve practical problems in the department.

The CSE certification training lasts for approximately 4 days, at the end of the training the participant writes a final exam (50 questions multiple choice). If the participant has passed this exam with a minimum score of 80%, he/she will receive an IPC-7711/7721 CSE certificate for this. With this IPC certificate you can work as a CSE (Certified Standard Expert) all over the world. Just like a driver’s license, this IPC certificate is internationally recognized. The certificate is valid for 2 years, you can extend the certificate validation by participating an IPC recertification training. The CSE recertification training can take place in a shorter period of time (at least 1 day). The IPC-7711/7721 CSE is the designated person who discusses and solves customer problems.

WOULD YOU LIKE TO TEACH SOMEBODY HOW TO REPAIR ELECTRONIC PRODUCTS? YES YOU CAN!

If you need further practical knowledge in soldering components, repairing pads/tracks/printed circuit board laminate, etc., then this standard is the right one for you. This standard is used during manual soldering in the production process of the assembler (the company that assembles and solder electronic components on the printed circuit board), in the repair department and sometimes also at the final assembly companies (the company that buys assembled printed circuit boards and installs them in the final housing (box building)). This training kit only contains IPC teaching materials (so no IPC standards, soldering equipment, microscopes, printed circuit boards, components, etc.). This training is suitable for people who have a managerial position or a lot of practical experience and/or want to transfer this knowledge to their staff/colleagues. If the participant has obtained his CIT certificate, then he/she must train at least 1 IPC training (including practice) per year.

The CIT certification training takes about 4 days, at the end of the training the participant writes a final exam (50 questions multiple choice). If the participant has passed this exam with a minimum score of 80%, he/she will receive an IPC-7711/7721 CIT certificate with all related course material for further training. The practical assignments must also be at least 80% correct. With this IPC certificate you can work as a CIT (Certified IPC Trainer) all over the world.
