IPC-A-600 Certification

IPC-A-600 CERTIFIED IPC SPECIALIST (CIS)

The IPC-A-600 (“Acceptability of Printed Boards”) is the IPC standard by which bare printed circuit boards are assessed. IPC is an American institute that ensures that all knowledge is distributed worldwide by certified IPC trainers through their IPC standards, IPC training programs and IPC training materials. The IPC-A-600 is a standard that inspects printed circuit boards at the end of the printed circuit board manufacturing process before they are delivered to the assembly companies.

WOULD YOU LIKE TO LEARN HOW TO INSPECT BARE PRINTED CIRCUIT BOARDS (PCBS)? YES YOU CAN!

It is a nice, well-arranged book, with lots of pictures (of sleeves/cross-sections of bare printed circuit boards) by which you can easily see (next to each image) what is acceptable and what is not allowed. Virtually all printed circuit board manufacturers around the world work according to this standard.

If you need further knowledge in the manufacturing process of printed circuit boards, inspecting single-sided, double-sided and multilayer printed circuit boards and the maximum damage to lands/pads, tracks, plated through-holes on a printed circuit board, then this standard is the right one for you. This standard is used for final inspection at the circuit board manufacturer (the company that manufactures the bare circuit board) and sometimes also as commodity entry check at the assembler (the company that buys bare circuit boards, assembles them with components and then solder these components onto the circuit board). The IPC-A-600 CIS training is a training that trains a student/participant as a Certified IPC Specialist (CIS). This means that the student can work with this standard after this training and can assess all bare printed circuit boards with it. This training is suitable for people who work as an operator/inspector in a printed circuit board manufacturing company, but also for managers who want more background knowledge in the manufacturing process of bare printed circuit boards so that they can better discuss this knowledge with the customer.

The CIS certification training is a modular training and lasts approximately 4 days, at the end of each training module the participant writes a final exam (multiple choice). If the participant has passed the exam of the mandatory module(s) with a minimum score of 70%, he/she will receive an IPC-A-600 CIS certificate for this. All further (optional) modules are listed on this IPC certificate. With this IPC certificate you can work as a CIS (Certified IPC Specialist) all over the world. Just like a driver’s license, this IPC certificate is internationally recognized. The certificate is valid for 2 years, you can extend the certificate validation by participating an IPC recertification training. The CIS recertification training can take place in a shorter period of time (at least 1 day). The IPC-A-600 CIS can independently solve manufacturing / practical problems in the department.

This training is suitable for people who have a lot of experience in the manufacturing process of bare printed circuit boards.

The CSE certification training takes approximately 4 days, at the end of the training the participant receives a written exam (100 questions multiple choice). If the participant has passed this exam with a minimum score of 80%, he/she will receive an IPC-A-600 CSE certificate for this. With this IPC certificate you can work as a CSE (Certified Standard Expert) all over the world. Just like a driver’s license, this IPC certificate is internationally recognized. The certificate is valid for 2 years, you can extend the certificate validation by participating an IPC recertification training.
